Seychelles Marks International Day of Persons with Disabilities
VICTORIA, Seychelles — Seychelles has joined the rest of the world in marking the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, under the global theme of promoting the rights, well-being, and inclusion of persons with disabilities. The day was observed with a series of activities that brought together persons with disabilities, their families, civil society organisations, and government officials.
Events on the day focused on raising awareness of the challenges faced by persons with disabilities in Seychelles, and on celebrating the contributions they make to the country’s social, cultural, and economic life. The day also provided an opportunity to highlight the importance of accessibility, inclusive education, and equal opportunities in all spheres of life.
Officials reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working with partners to build a more inclusive society, where every citizen, regardless of ability, has the opportunity to realise their full potential. The day ended with a call for continued collaboration and for the removal of barriers that prevent the full participation of persons with disabilities in the life of the country.
