Seychelles Endorses New UN Tourism Vision at Toledo Council

VICTORIA, Seychelles — Seychelles has formally endorsed the new UN Tourism Management Vision 2026–2029 at the 126th session of the UN Tourism Executive Council, held this month in Toledo, Spain, Tourism and Culture Minister Amanda Bernstein has confirmed.
Speaking on behalf of the government, Minister Bernstein welcomed the Vision’s focus on stronger institutional foundations, collaboration and capacity-building across member states, framing Seychelles’ participation as part of its role as a small-island champion in global tourism policy.
Seychelles was elected to a seat on the UN Tourism Executive Council for the 2026–2029 term in June 2025 and is currently preparing to host the 69th session of the UN Tourism Commission for Africa in Victoria, Mahé, in July 2026 — the first time the country has hosted the regional body.
Seychelles’ presence on the Council and its role as host of the upcoming CAF session position the country as a reference point for tourism policy among Small Island Developing States, particularly on issues of climate resilience, market diversification and the integration of cultural heritage into tourism planning.
