Construction of Modern Hospital Advances Healthcare Infrastructure Plans

VICTORIA, Seychelles — Construction of a new modern hospital has advanced significantly, marking a major milestone in the country’s efforts to upgrade its healthcare infrastructure. The project represents one of the largest investments in healthcare in the history of Seychelles, designed to expand capacity, improve patient experience, and introduce new clinical services to better serve the population.
According to the Ministry of Health, the new hospital will feature modern diagnostic and treatment facilities, expanded inpatient and outpatient capacity, and dedicated centres for specialised care. The design incorporates the latest evidence on healing environments, with attention to natural light, green space, and patient privacy. The project has been planned in close consultation with clinicians, patients, and community representatives to ensure it meets the needs of all users.
According to ministry officials, the construction project has been carefully managed to minimise disruption to existing healthcare services and to ensure continuity of care throughout the building period. The project is being delivered in phases, with some new facilities expected to come online before the full completion of the hospital. The investment is expected to create jobs, support the local construction industry, and contribute to the broader economy.
The new hospital is a centrepiece of the government’s healthcare modernisation agenda, which also includes investment in primary care, digital health systems, and the training and recruitment of healthcare professionals. Officials said the facility will strengthen Seychelles’ ability to provide high-quality care to its citizens and to continue developing as a regional centre for medical excellence. The project is expected to be fully completed in the coming years, with regular updates provided to the public.
