Government Launches Biweekly Outreach Programme to Communities

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The government has launched a new biweekly outreach programme designed to bring public services and information directly to communities across the islands. The programme aims to strengthen the connection between government and citizens, improve access to services, and provide a regular forum for dialogue on issues affecting local communities.

Under the programme, government teams will visit different districts every two weeks, offering services ranging from registration and documentation to health screenings, social support, and information on government programmes. According to officials, the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to responsive and accessible governance. Community members will also have the opportunity to raise concerns directly with representatives of relevant ministries and agencies.

According to the Office of the President, the outreach programme has been developed in response to feedback from communities about the need for more accessible government services. The programme will be coordinated centrally but delivered locally, with teams tailored to the specific needs and priorities of each district. Local leaders and community organisations have been invited to play an active role in shaping the agenda for each visit.

The first outreach events have been held in several districts, with strong community participation and positive feedback. Officials said the programme will be evaluated regularly to ensure it is meeting its objectives and to identify opportunities for improvement. The government has called on citizens to take advantage of the outreach events and to engage actively with the teams visiting their communities. The programme is expected to continue throughout the year and beyond.
