Former MNA Charles de Commarmond laid to rest in Victoria
VICTORIA, Seychelles — Former National Assembly member Honourable Charles de Commarmond was laid to rest on Saturday afternoon in a ceremony at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Victoria, attended by family, political colleagues, and members of the public.
The service was led by Father Jean Chrysostome and Deacon Louis Agathine. In her testimony, Odile de Commarmond described her brother as a caring and compassionate man whose life was defined by service to the Seychellois people. A former colleague paid tribute to de Commarmond’s political journey and thanked him for being a pillar in the community.
In his sermon, Deacon Agathine said the passing of Honourable de Commarmond marked the loss of an icon whose contribution to public life would be remembered for years to come. Born on April 4, 1959, de Commarmond had a long political career in the National Assembly before retiring in 2020.
Tributes continued after the service, with speakers acknowledging his dedication to constituents and his long service in the legislature. The ceremony brought together officials, family members, and members of the public who came to pay their final respects.
