Former MNA Charles de Commarmond Laid to Rest in Cascade
VICTORIA, Seychelles — Former National Assembly member, Honourable Charles de Commarmond, was laid to rest on Saturday afternoon in the Cascade cemetery after a two-hour memorial service at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Victoria. The solemn and reverent gathering brought together family, friends, colleagues, and the wider community to pay tribute to his life and dedicated service.
Among those paying their last respect were President Patrick Herminie, Vice-President Sebastien Pillay, Principal Minister Wallace Cosgrow, Speaker of the National Assembly Azarel Ernesta, ministers, former President Danny Faure, members of the National Assembly, and other government officials. The religious ceremony, marked by various testimonies, was presided over by Father David Alcindor, assisted by Bishop Alain Harel, Father Jean Chrysostome and Deacon Louis Agathine.
In her testimony, Odile de Commarmond shared that he was a very caring, compassionate, and considerate person who touched the hearts of his family members, friends, and colleagues, especially the residents of Cascade. He was also remembered as an active sportsman in his younger days, particularly in football and karate, and was deeply involved in cultural activities. Born on April 4, 1959, he passed away on December 20, 2025, at the Seychelles Hospital after being diagnosed with amyloidosis in India last year.
