Angela Marzocchi Wins President’s Cup at SIAD Graduation

VICTORIA, Seychelles — Angela Marzocchi was awarded the President’s Cup during the graduation ceremony of the Seychelles Institute of Art and Design yesterday afternoon. Ms Marzocchi, who has successfully completed the Diploma Course in Fine Arts among 43 other students, received her cup from President Wavel Ramkalawan. She also won three other awards, namely Best Overall Performer for the Diploma programme, Best Performer for Cambridge GCE ‘A level Art’ and Best Performer for Diploma in Fine Arts.
During the ceremony, held at the University of Seychelles auditorium in Anse Royale, Ms Marzocchi was described as a role model who is deeply passionate about visual arts and consistently made time to create and explore her craft, develop her artistic abilities, while also actively participating in various activities and competitions. In an interview, she expressed her joy and excitement for winning the prestigious prize. ‘I feel very happy to receive these awards and it shows that hard work and dedication does pay off,’ she stated.
The Seychelles Institute of Art and Design continues to grow as a national centre for creative education, with this year’s cohort of 44 graduates representing one of the largest in the institution’s history. Graduates received diplomas and certificates across disciplines including fine arts, graphic design, fashion and textile design, and digital media. The ceremony was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Education, the University of Seychelles and members of the artistic community, who commended the graduates for their contributions to the country’s creative economy.
