University of Seychelles and KNUST Ghana Sign MoU on Academic Exchange and Research

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The University of Seychelles (UniSey) and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) of Ghana have signed a memorandum of understanding that will enable the exchange of expertise and resources between the two institutions.

The agreement was signed in a short ceremony at UniSey’s Anse Royale campus yesterday afternoon by UniSey Vice-Chancellor Joëlle Perreau and KNUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Rita Dickson, in the presence of the Seychelles Minister for Education, Dr Justin Valentin, representatives of KNUST, the deans of the faculties at UniSey and other staff. The partnership was initiated during the visit of UniSey’s Chancellor, President Wavel Ramkalawan, to Ghana last year.

The MoU extends invitations to academic representatives from each institution to engage in symposia, conferences, short courses and meetings; promotes institutional exchanges by inviting KNUST staff to engage with UniSey teaching and research initiatives; commits both universities to joint research programmes; and provides for the exchange of selected undergraduate and graduate students and collaborative supervision of graduation projects and doctoral theses. The Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Development at UniSey, Dr Justin Zelime, will lead the implementation.
