VICTORIA, Seychelles — Elijah Gedeon was the proud recipient of the President’s Cup for being the outstanding student of the Seychelles Institute of Technology at the end of 2024. Gedeon was among 13 other students who have successfully completed the National Diploma in Construction and among 200 students who graduated yesterday after following courses in various fields including Certificate in Carpentry and Joinery, Certificate in Electrical Installation, and Advanced Certificate in Mechanical Engineering.
He received his cup from President Wavel Ramkalawan during the institution’s graduation ceremony at the International Conference Centre. The President’s Cup is given to the graduate who has not only performed well academically, but is also exemplary, a good role model and an ambassador to the academy when participating in different events.
SIT continues to be a key technical training provider in Seychelles, equipping students with practical skills aligned to the country’s labour-market needs in construction, electrical and mechanical trades. The graduation reaffirmed the institute’s role in supporting national priorities for a skilled workforce, and the recognition of outstanding students such as Gedeon was noted as an example of the calibre of graduates being produced.
