Port Glaud Primary School Receives R55000 Donation for Computer Room
VICTORIA, Seychelles — Port Glaud primary school has received a donation of R55,000 which will be used to upgrade the school’s computer room, by acquiring additional laptops or computers. The generous donation comes from Constance Ephelia Mahé Seychelles, located in Port Launay. The cheque was handed over to the head teacher of the school, Emeline Riaze, on Tuesday by the general manager of Constance Ephelia Mahé Seychelles, Stephen Duchenne.
Present at the ceremony, which was held at the school, were team members from the resort, management representatives from the school, teachers, and pupils. The sum collected was from the recent 12-hour non-stop cycling event at the resort, known as the Constance Generosity Challenge. The activity started at 6am and ended at 6pm. For each kilometre cycled, $5 was donated by the Constance Hotels and Resorts group, and Constance Ephelia Mahé Seychelles chose to donate the funds raised to Port Glaud primary.
Mr Duchenne said the resort is committed to supporting education in the communities where it operates, and the cycling event was a creative way to engage staff and guests in giving back. Mrs Riaze thanked the resort and the team behind the challenge, noting that the donation will help to strengthen digital literacy among pupils and equip them with skills for the future. The school said it will work closely with the resort to plan the procurement and installation of the new equipment over the coming weeks.
