SCR19.7 Million Police Station Set to Transform Security at Perseverance

A major upgrade in Seychelles’ law enforcement infrastructure is underway, with the signing of an agreement for a brand new police station at Île Perseverance.

Valued at R19,781,998, the project is being funded by the Ministry of Homeland Security and Civil Affairs and is expected to be completed in 2027. The signing ceremony brought together key figures including Commissioner of Police Godfra Hermitte, Seychelles Infrastructure Agency director general Dorayne Calderin Torres, and Karsan Kerai, managing director of Gopinath Builders, the contractor behind the project.

The new facility is not just another building. It represents a strategic move to strengthen policing capacity in one of Seychelles’ fastest growing residential areas. Perseverance has seen rapid development in recent years, and with that growth comes increased demand for accessible, efficient, and modern law enforcement services.

Authorities say the station will be equipped to enhance operational efficiency, improve response times, and provide officers with the resources needed to serve the community effectively. It also reflects a broader government commitment to public safety and national security.

As Seychelles continues to modernise its infrastructure, investments like this signal a clear priority: ensuring that development is matched with strong, reliable institutions that protect citizens and maintain order.
