Environment Minister Jeremie Pledges Innovation and Collaboration on LWMA Visit
VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Minister for Environment, Energy, Climate and Natural Resources, Marie-May Jeremie, has underscored the importance of innovation, efficiency, and strong collaboration as the Landscape and Waste Management Agency (LWMA) continues to enhance waste management services, national beautification efforts, recycling initiatives, and the transition towards a circular economy in Seychelles.
She made the remarks on her introductory visit to the agency’s head office in Providence on December 18, where she was welcomed by chief executive Shane Emilie, deputy chief executive Sharon Stravens, and members of the LWMA management team. The visit followed her appointment in November 2025 and provided an opportunity for staff to formally welcome her to the agency.
‘LWMA plays a critical role in protecting our environment, safeguarding public health, and enhancing the image of our country,’ Minister Jeremie said. During a briefing with management, Mr Emilie highlighted LWMA’s recent achievements and priority projects, while also noting the operational and financial constraints faced by the agency. The minister encouraged open communication and emphasised that staff welfare remains a fundamental priority of her ministry.
