New Modern Health Centre Opens in Baie Lazare After Years of Planning
VICTORIA, Seychelles — A new modern and well-equipped health centre was officially opened in the Baie Lazare district on Monday afternoon by President Wavel Ramkalawan and Minister for Health Peggy Vidot. The facility, built on the same site as the former Baie Lazare clinic, will house all the health services previously offered at the old clinic.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Ramkalawan reflected on the successes in healthcare over recent years and called on the Baie Lazare community to respect and make good use of the new facility, which in turn will serve them well. He also urged residents to take care of their health so that they only visit the centre for tests aimed at improving their wellbeing.
Minister Vidot said the Baie Lazare health centre will continue to focus on preventive approaches, with programmes and services centred on early intervention, health education and wellness initiatives, delivered through screening, vaccination and community health promotion. The chief executive of the Health Care Agency, Dr Danny Louange, said the new centre represents an evolution of healthcare delivery, with the objective of providing the Seychellois people, wherever they are, with a service of high standard. The ceremony was led in prayer by Father Francis Kaumbulu of St François d’Assise Church and was attended by district administrator Fatima Marie, district member Honourable François Adelaide, and a group of dentists from the German Dentist Association.
