Seychelles Judiciary Destroys 1.3 Tonnes of Drugs Seized in Major Cases

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Seychelles Judiciary on Saturday destroyed 1.3 tonnes of drugs confiscated by various law enforcement agencies between December 2024 and June 2025. The destruction was carried out under the supervision of the Judiciary and other relevant authorities in line with established legal procedures.
The drugs, which were the subject of 28 separate cases, came from operations in which more than 100 people were convicted. The destruction marked the end of the judicial process for those cases and was hailed as a major milestone in the fight against drug trafficking and abuse in the country.
Officials at the ceremony noted that the scale of the seizure reflects the continued efforts of law enforcement agencies to disrupt the supply of illegal substances in Seychelles. They said the Judiciary remains committed to ensuring that the rule of law is upheld, and that those found guilty of drug-related offences face the full consequences of their actions.
