Education Forum Brings Together Local and International Educators
VICTORIA, Seychelles — An education forum bringing together teachers, education leaders, and policy makers was held yesterday at the Double Tree by Hilton Allamanda, for a dynamic exchange of ideas and practices. The forum was attended by Education Minister Dr Justin Valentin, the British High Commissioner to Seychelles, Jeffrey Glekin, head teachers, and educators from schools on Mahé.
In his opening remarks, Minister Valentin shared that the forum aligns with the ministry’s strategies of making schools an effective learning ground by bringing teachers together from different settings, countries, and communities. He noted that such exchanges are essential for raising standards, sharing best practice, and ensuring that Seychellois students benefit from a globally informed curriculum.
The forum featured presentations and panel discussions on a range of topics, including curriculum development, teacher training, the use of technology in the classroom, and approaches to inclusive education. A similar forum will be held on another inner island, to ensure that educators from across the country have the opportunity to participate in the discussion. The ministry said it intends to make the forum a regular feature of the education calendar, in support of its wider reform agenda.
