National Grants Committee Funds 17 New Community Projects for 2025

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The National Grants Committee has awarded an amount of R6,916,181.00 towards 17 new projects under the National Grants Funding Scheme, marking a significant investment in community-driven projects for the year 2025. The committee officially handed over the funding agreements to the first batch of grantees for 2025 in a short ceremony yesterday morning at the National History Museum conference room.
Present was the chairperson of the National Grants Committee, Eline Moses, members of the committee and respective not-for-profit organisations that received the grant. The total appropriation bill allocation for 2025 is R9,050,000.00. The NPOs include the Green Generation Seychelles, Hope Foundation, Light Amidst My Path (LAMP), Association for Rights Information and Democracy (Arid), Seychelles Bible Society (SBS), Seychelles Association of Women Promoting Education, Empowerment and Enlightenment (SAWOPE), Living Well, Seychelles Alzheimer’s Foundation, Everlasting Love Ministries International (ELMI), Seychelles Interfaith Council (Sifco), The Nurses Association of the Republic of Seychelles (NARS), HIV Aids Support Organisation of Seychelles (Haso), Seychelles Scout Association (SSA), Seychelles Association of Retired Education Professionals (Sarep), Seychelles Society for the prevention of Cruelty To Animals (SSPCA), Survival Ark Foundation (SAF) and Campaign for Awareness Resilience and Education (Care).
Speaking to local media, Mrs Moses shared that the aim of the session is to raise awareness on the key concepts of grant compliance and project monitoring to the grantees. ‘It is also to advise the beneficiaries under the 2025 National grant funding scheme how to implement their project and reporting requirements,’ she explained. With the remaining balance of the allocated budget, which is around R2 million, a second call for proposals for projects, which can be completed within a six-month period, will be launched. Since 2019, a total of 127 projects worth R50,470,420.50 have been financed under the National Grants Funding Scheme.
