Seychelles Interreligious Council Closes Harmony Week with Televised Dialogue at SBC
VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Interreligious Harmony Week in Seychelles drew to a close on Friday with a televised Interreligious Dialogue broadcast by the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) at Hermitage. The programme, organised by the Seychelles Interreligious Council (SIFCO), brought together leaders and representatives of nine religious denominations, offering a platform to discuss the importance of religious harmony as a foundation for world peace.
Under the central theme of religious harmony as a prerequisite for world peace, the participants addressed crucial questions about the role of religion in society and its relations with politics and government. The discussion, led by a clear facilitator, emphasised the universal call to promote love, tolerance and harmony. A consensus was reached that, despite their differences, the various religious communities share a common goal: peace and harmony for all.
SIFCO chairman Father Danny Elizabeth expressed satisfaction with the dialogue, noting that an atmosphere of mutual understanding and respect marked the exchanges. He emphasised that while religion and politics are distinct domains, their collaboration is essential to promote social harmony and peace. The Interreligious Harmony Week, which marked an important step for SIFCO as it prepares to celebrate its 13th anniversary on February 11, distinguished itself from previous editions with a varied and enriching programme.
