Twelfth Seychelles-China Day Bazaar Draws Crowds to National Museum

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The 12th Seychelles-China Day bazaar, organised as part of the Chinese New Year celebrations, drew large crowds to the National Museum compound in Victoria on Saturday. Present at the launch was the Chinese ambassador to Seychelles, Lin Nan, who wished everyone a happy and prosperous Year of the Snake and thanked the Seychelles National Institute for Culture, Heritage and the Arts, the City of Victoria and the Chinese Association of Seychelles for their tireless efforts in organising the event.
Ambassador Lin Nan said the bazaar is a vivid demonstration of the Global Civilisation Initiative proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping, and expressed her confidence that the growing relationship between the two countries would continue to bear fruit in 2025, creating new opportunities for both nations. The secretary general of SNICH, David Andre, highlighted the importance of cultural events in fostering unity and understanding.
The bazaar attracted many visitors who were treated to traditional Chinese dishes — from savoury dumplings to sweet pastries — and the opportunity to try their hand at Chinese calligraphy. Numerous stalls offered Chinese handicrafts, souvenirs and a variety of teas, allowing attendees to bring home a piece of the culture. The event also featured traditional Chinese dance and music, including a lively dragon dance.
