School Year 2025 Begins with Slogan Calling for Hard Work and More Success

VICTORIA, Seychelles — All public primary and secondary schools resumed classes yesterday after a six-week holiday, with the Minister for Education, Dr Justin Valentin, marking the start of the new school year with a tour of La Misère primary school.

The Minister used the visit to announce the 2025 slogan, ‘Annou travay dir pour plis sikse’ (‘Let’s work hard for more success’), a Creole phrase he said captured the spirit in which teachers, parents and pupils should approach the year. Dr Valentin was accompanied by his team and spent time with the youngest pupils, many of them dressed in new uniforms and carrying new bags for the first day of term.

Education officials said the year will focus on consolidating learning gains made in 2024, with particular attention to literacy and numeracy in the early years and to a wider range of post-secondary pathways. The Ministry is expected to publish details of new curriculum and assessment measures in the coming weeks.
