President Herminie visits two maritime security centres at Bois de Rose
VICTORIA, Seychelles — President Patrick Herminie has carried out a familiarisation visit to two key maritime security centres based at Bois de Rose, the Regional Coordination of Operations Centre Seychelles and the National Information Sharing Coordination Centre.
The visit provided the President with an overview of the operations of the two centres, which play a central role in coordinating maritime domain awareness and information sharing within the western Indian Ocean. The centres work closely with regional and international partners on issues including illegal fishing, maritime trafficking, and search-and-rescue coordination.
President Herminie was briefed on the operations and cooperation frameworks, including the way information is shared with regional partners to ensure safety and security at sea. The visit forms part of the President’s ongoing familiarisation with national security infrastructure following his assumption of office.
According to a press release, the President used the opportunity to commend the staff at both centres for their professionalism and dedication. The Office of the President said the visit underscores the importance the government places on maritime security as a key pillar of the country’s defence and economic strategy.
