First Lady Linda Ramkalawan Hosts Appreciation Lunch for Senior Citizens on La Digue

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The First Lady, Linda Ramkalawan, hosted a special appreciation lunch for senior citizens at La Diguoise restaurant on La Digue, walking alongside them in a celebration of their contributions to Seychellois society. The well-known personality Jenita Laporte helped coordinate the gathering and ensured that the guests were warmly welcomed.

Dressed in elegant attire, the senior citizens arrived to reconnect with long-time friends, share conversations, and enjoy a meal together. The First Lady thanked them for their continued presence in the community, noting that while life moves quickly, it is important to pause and recognise the elders who have shaped families, workplaces, and the country. ‘In our own way, we have all contributed. So, we want to thank you for that. We pass by, but it is not always easy to have an enjoyable moment together. So during this lunch, we are reconnecting, and sharing old times,’ the First Lady said.

The event forms part of a wider programme of activities that the Office of the First Lady has been leading to honour senior citizens and to strengthen intergenerational ties. The First Lady reaffirmed her commitment to recognising the value and dignity of the elderly in Seychelles and to supporting initiatives that improve their well-being and sense of belonging.
