Ivy Dupres Celebrates 101st Birthday in Le Niole

VICTORIA, Seychelles — Ivy Dupres celebrated her 101st birthday on Sunday afternoon at her residence in Le Niole, surrounded by loved ones. Born on November 23, 1924, she was honoured with a brief ceremony attended by local officials, which started with a blessing and prayer by Father Bryan Volcère of the Anglican Church before she was bestowed with multiple gifts.

Director general for Quality Assurance and Monitoring in the Ministry of Local Government and Inner Islands, Murielle Marie, presented a gift basket on behalf of President Patrick Herminie. ‘The president recognises the hard work that Ms Dupres has done for her country and he hopes that the family will continue to grant her the support she needs. May God bless her for next year as well. On behalf of President Herminie, happy birthday,’ she stated.

Principal secretary for the Family Department, Mike Morel, presented a gift on behalf of the Minister for Social Affairs, Family and Equality, Pamela Charlette. ‘For all these years, Ms Ivy has gone through difficult moments and was there to support her family. I take this opportunity to thank the family for taking care of her. To reach 101 even with good health, requires love that only a family can give,’ he said. The family expressed gratitude to the government and the ministry for the gesture, and thanked everyone who took the time to mark the milestone.
