International School Seychelles Shortlisted for Prestigious TES Awards 2025
VICTORIA, Seychelles — International School Seychelles (ISS) has been shortlisted for the Community Engagement Initiative of the Year in the TES Awards for International Schools 2025, an internationally recognised celebration of excellence across global education. The TES Awards, often described as the ‘Oscars of Education’, build on the long-standing prestige of the TES Schools Awards in the UK and honour the outstanding dedication, innovation, and impact of teachers and support staff in British and international curricular schools worldwide. The 2025 awards attracted 578 entries, nearly double the previous year.
ISS has been shortlisted for its extensive ‘55 Acts of Giving’ initiative delivered in 2024, marking the school’s 55th anniversary. Inspired by the school motto – ‘You are not born for yourself but for the world’ – the programme mobilised the entire school community to engage in meaningful service. These acts included blood drives, community support projects, literacy mentoring, intergenerational outreach, wellbeing and social impact activities, heritage conservation, and a wide range of environmental contributions including clean-ups, mangrove planting, and sustainability projects.
Executive head Elodie Vallantine said the recognition is a powerful affirmation of who the school is. ‘Integrity, community, and optimism are at the heart of ISS, and our 55 Acts of Giving brought these values to life beautifully. Every pupil, member of staff, parent, alumni, and our Board of Governors played a part. This shortlisting is not just a celebration of an initiative – it is a celebration of our whole community and the difference we are proud to make in Seychelles,’ she said. Winners will be announced on December 9, 2025.
