Seychellois Community in UAE Marks 49th Independence Day in Abu Dhabi

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Seychellois community in the United Arab Emirates marked 49 years of independence with a gala evening at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Abu Dhabi. Organised under the patronage of the Seychelles embassy in the UAE, the celebration was spearheaded by a committee made up entirely of Seychellois residents and brought together families and friends in a warm display of Creole culture.

Ambassador Gervais Moumou highlighted the importance of national celebrations and the growing ties between Seychelles and the UAE, while commending the creativity, resilience and achievements of the Seychellois youth making their mark globally. From soulful Creole music to heartfelt speeches and décor inspired by the national flag, the evening brought Seychelles to life in the heart of the Emirates.

The gala also featured a grand raffle with prizes donated by Laïla Hotel & Resort, Del Place Restaurant, Air Arabia, Musafir, the Sheraton Grand Hotel, Centara Mirage Beach Resort Dubai and a number of other UAE-based partners. The star prize, a round-trip air ticket sponsored by Air Arabia, captured the crowd’s enthusiasm and underscored the enduring bond between the two nations.
