Independent School Pupil Wins IGCSE First Language Award

VICTORIA, Seychelles — A pupil of the Independent School has won the Seychelles award for First Language in the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), the most popular international qualification for 14-to-16-year-olds. The young student said she will pursue her A-Levels at the Independent School, where she will study Business, alongside other subjects.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, the youngster thanked her family and teachers, saying she would not have achieved the award without their support. “A lot of thanks to my family and teachers because I would not have gotten here without them,” she said, adding that managing her time and respecting her schedule had been challenging, and had forced her to set up a routine system and put in significant effort to manage her time well. “It was worth it,” she said.

The student said she is also concerned about environmental issues, and intends to focus her future studies on ways to address pollution and climate change. “In today’s world I think pollution and climate change are the biggest challenges. So I want to teach people about ways to save the planet and conserve our resources,” she said. The Independent School said it is proud of the student’s achievement, which reflects the school’s emphasis on academic excellence and personal development.
