Red Cross Launches Third Aid Appeal for Cyclone-Hit Madagascar

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Red Cross Society of Seychelles yesterday made a third aid appeal for Madagascar during a time of crisis, as the country grapples with significant challenges, particularly the relentless cyclones and the persistent rainy season. These adversities have resulted in 11 confirmed fatalities and 17 individuals reported missing, contributing to a staggering total of over 50 million people in urgent need of assistance.
The donation appeal represents an opportunity to provide vital assistance to vulnerable communities in Madagascar during a critical time, while the collaboration with the Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF) ensures the efficient delivery of aid, and the active participation of Seychellois citizens will foster a sense of solidarity and shared purpose. The third appeal for aid was made yesterday by secretary general of the Red Cross Society of Seychelles (RCSS) Marie-May Esparon, along with Chaplain of the SDF, Deacon Louis Agathine, and Commanding Officer at Special Forces Unit and public relations officer Colonel Archil Mondon during a press conference.
As the rainy season continues, the need for immediate assistance grows, particularly in food supplies for affected populations. Members of the public wishing to contribute to the appeal are encouraged to contact the RCSS directly, with further details on collection points and modes of donation to be circulated through official channels.
