PLS Boys Choir Spreads Valentine’s Love to Elderly Homes in Seychelles

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The PLS Boys Choir brought Valentine’s Day cheer to elderly residents across three homes on the island of Mahé, performing soul-stirring songs as part of a heartfelt outreach programme titled Annou Senm Lanmour. The PLS Boys Choir visited the St Elizabeth Old People’s Home, La Retraite, and Pointe Larue Homes for the Elderly on Saturday, lifting spirits with gospel tunes, sega, and both slow and upbeat songs.

The outreach, organised by the National Council for Children in partnership with the choir, aimed to spread love and appreciation to elderly citizens. First Lady Veronique Herminie joined the choir at La Retraite Home, presenting each boy with a token of appreciation for their dedication and generosity. Since its inception in 2023, the choir has received immense community support and sought to reciprocate that love on Valentine’s Day.

A highlight of the event was the donation of hampers filled with essential commodities to each of the three homes. Choir founder Claudia Don explained that the boys themselves contributed from their pocket money, with parents and teachers also supporting the initiative. ‘This effort allows them to give back to the community, step outside their comfort zone, and learn the true significance of sharing,’ she said.

The PLS Boys Choir was established in 2023 and has since become a fixture in community service activities across Seychelles. The group regularly performs at public events and continues to develop young musical talent while fostering a spirit of giving among its members.

The outreach programme underscores the growing emphasis on intergenerational connection and community service among Seychelles’ youth organisations. The National Council for Children has indicated it plans to expand such initiatives to reach more elderly facilities across the islands.

The PLS Boys Choir’s Valentine’s outreach demonstrated that music remains a powerful force for community bonding in Seychelles.
