Seychelles National Choir and Chinese Business Community Bolster Hospital Fund

VICTORIA, Seychelles — Two further donations have been added to the New Seychelles Hospital Fund, with the Seychelles National Choir and the Chinese business community each making substantial contributions to the construction of a modern hospital. Vice-President Ahmed Afif accepted the cheques on behalf of the committee at a presentation held yesterday.

The National Choir raised R136,900 through its local shows, reflecting the choir’s continued commitment to supporting the national healthcare project. Marie-Antoinette Laurence, a long-time friend of the choir and supporter of the fundraising committee, expressed the committee’s heartfelt thanks to the choir for its dedication, noting that the group has been a friend of the committee since 2014 and has donated flights and other support over the years.

The Chinese business community donated R111,000, further demonstrating the strong ties between Seychelles and China and the willingness of the international business community to support national development priorities. The combined R247,900 brings the total raised so far to over R6 million. The New Seychelles Hospital Fund continues to welcome contributions from individuals, cultural organisations and the private sector as the country moves closer to the construction of a new national hospital.
