Sichuan Delegation Holds Talks With President Ramkalawan at State House

VICTORIA, Seychelles — A high-level delegation from Sichuan, China, led by Wang Xiaohui, secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee, paid a courtesy visit to President Wavel Ramkalawan at State House yesterday. The visit is part of the enduring friendship between China and Seychelles, set to celebrate 50 years of diplomatic ties next year.
The Chinese delegation also included the ambassador of China to Seychelles, Lin Nan, and various high-ranking officials from Sichuan’s key departments, while local representatives comprised principal secretary for Foreign Affairs Ambassador Vivianne Fock Tave and director general for Bilateral Affairs Lindy Ernesta. The visit is a direct follow-up to President Ramkalawan’s successful trip to China last September, where he met with the Chinese President and elevated the bilateral relationship to a strategic partnership.
Ambassador Lin Nan noted that a significant outcome of the reinforced partnership is the establishment of a seasonal direct flight between China and Seychelles, achieved with the joint support of both sides, particularly Sichuan province, which marks a milestone in the bilateral relationship. Both nations are actively exploring new avenues of cooperation in tourism, transport and trade, while continuing to strengthen traditional areas such as education, healthcare and maritime security.
