Praslin and La Digue Crowned Champions at 45th National Inter-School Athletics

VICTORIA, Seychelles — Praslin secondary school retained its title as overall champion of the secondary category of the 45th National Inter-School Athletics Championships, held on Saturday at Stad Linite, while La Digue primary dethroned Grand Anse Praslin to claim the primary division crown. Vice-President Ahmed Afif presented the trophies to the winning schools at the closing ceremony.

More than 1,100 young athletes from Mahé, Praslin and La Digue competed in the primary, secondary and post-secondary (now professional centre) categories. The event, initially held on June 29 to coincide with the Independence Day celebrations, has grown in scope and participation over the years. President Wavel Ramkalawan presented the cup for the best professional centre to athletes from the Seychelles Institute of Technology (SIT) and the Seychelles Business Studies Academy (SBSA), who finished as joint champions after garnering the same points tally.

Officials said the Championships remain a key fixture on the school sports calendar, providing a platform for young athletes from across the inner and outer islands to showcase their talent in track and field disciplines.
