VICTORIA, Seychelles — Seychelles Fishing Authority (SFA) chief executive Jan Robinson has issued a message to mark World Tuna Day 2025, calling on all stakeholders to keep steering the tuna industry towards a sustainable and resilient future. In her statement, Ms Robinson highlighted the importance of responsible fishing practices, robust monitoring and the use of science-based management to safeguard the resource. She also noted the value of investing in local capacity, training and technology so that the benefits of the tuna industry are felt across the country, from small-scale operators to large processors.
World Tuna Day 2025 has been marked by a renewed focus on the long-term sustainability of the global tuna stock and on the people and communities that depend on it. The SFA reaffirmed its commitment to working with the government, industry, regional and international partners to ensure the resource continues to support livelihoods for generations to come.
