Seychelles National Museums Unveils New Logo and Educational Programmes
VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Seychelles National Museums has unveiled a new logo and launched a series of educational programmes aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of the country’s cultural heritage. The director of the Seychelles National Museums, Ms Ondiek, said the programmes are designed to offer interactive learning experiences and inspire future generations to engage with the world of museums.
She added that the programmes also promote inclusivity and accessibility, strengthen the community’s connection to its heritage and encourage continuous learning by offering programmes that appeal to all ages. Some of the activities planned this year include beach clean-up, mangrove planting and exploring Fish Aggregating Devices (FADs). The museum has also introduced an app given to participants so that they can use it to identify any plant or animal species anywhere they are. The activities for the National Museum of History will be carried out during both school terms and holidays, and include visits, traditional games and presentations.
The new logo, made up of three letters, has been designed by Juliette Zelime, and it unifies all four units under the National Museum. The three letters are S (for Seychelles), M (for Museum) and N (for National), while the colours represent each unit. Additionally, the Seychelles National Museums is introducing a competition for all schools, both private and state, under the theme ‘My Museum: The past towards the future’, to be done in groups of five across three categories: artwork, drama and song. A new initiative dubbed ‘Free Fridays’ will allow local visitors free access to the museums every Friday starting in March.
