Centenarian Aline Thomas Celebrates 100th Birthday
VICTORIA, Seychelles — Centenarian Aline Thomas, who turned 100 last Monday, was treated to a special celebration on Saturday afternoon at the ex-Onezime Estate, where a religious service was carried out by Father Colin Underwood. The cake-cutting ceremony was followed by the presentation of several gifts, including one from the Office of the President, which was handed over by the principal secretary for Local Government and Community Affairs, Kevin Perine.
Mrs Thomas also received presents from the principal secretary for the Family department, Mike Morel, the member of the National Assembly for the Anse Aux Pins district, Clifford Andre, and the district administrator, Nigel Payet. The family hosted relatives and well-wishers at the ex-Onezime Estate, where Mrs Thomas has lived for many years, and the centenarian was praised for her long contribution to the community and the Catholic Church in Anse Aux Pins.
The Office of the President joined the family and the wider Anse Aux Pins community in congratulating Mrs Thomas and wished her good health and continued happiness. Centenarians remain a small but celebrated part of Seychelles’ social fabric, with long-lived residents regularly honoured at family gatherings, district ceremonies and national events.
