Anse Royale Crèche Officially Inaugurated at Ceremony Led by President Ramkalawan

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Anse Royale crèche officially opened its doors yesterday afternoon with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque by President Wavel Ramkalawan and the Minister for Education, Dr Justin Valentin.

Accompanied by First Lady Linda Ramkalawan, the Head of State presided over the ceremony which also included the cutting of a ceremonial cake by Vice-President Ahmed Afif. Among those present were the principal secretary for Education Services, Merna Eulentin, the principal secretary for Education Sector Development, John Lesperance, council chairperson Roland Marengo, and head teacher of Anse Royale primary, Magda Rose.

The two-storey building comprises eight classrooms, toilet facilities, and additional rooms which will be used as a library and computer room. Addressing the attendees, head teacher Rose emphasised that the opening of the crèche represents a collective vision and a commitment to giving every child the best possible start in life. ‘After many years of waiting, today as we officially open this facility, we commit to ensuring that our children grow up in an environment where learning, care and values go hand in hand,’ she said, asking the teachers to make full use of the new environment with dedication, creativity and passion.

In his opening remarks, Minister Valentin said that the new crèche should serve as a symbol to renew the country’s commitment to education. The crèche will provide early childhood education services to children in the Anse Royale district, a long-awaited facility for the local community on the south coast of Mahé.
