Fast-Track Card Initiative Launched to Speed Up Access for Persons with Disabilities

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Ministry of Employment and Social Affairs, together with the Ministry of Investment, Entrepreneurship and Industry, have jointly signed a memorandum of understanding with the Elderly and Disabled Division of the Family department for the Fast-Track Card Initiative. The signing formalises the parties’ intent to continue working together to uphold the rights of people living with disabilities.
The card allows a person with a disability to access essential services without having to wait. It is issued by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Family after a person meets a set of necessary requirements. The initiative is expected to reduce waiting times at health facilities, government offices and other service points for cardholders, providing a more dignified and efficient experience for persons with disabilities and their families.
The memorandum was signed by representatives of the three ministries and the Family department, who reaffirmed their commitment to working collaboratively on the rollout of the card. The Fast-Track Card Initiative is part of broader government efforts to promote the social inclusion of persons with disabilities, in line with national policy and the obligations of the State under international conventions on the rights of persons with disabilities. The authorities have indicated that further information on eligibility and the application process will be made available through the relevant ministries in due course.
