Beau Vallon Resident Etienne Lajoie Celebrates 100th Birthday with Family and Friends
VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Beau Vallon district came together on Saturday, August 2, 2025, to celebrate the 100th birthday of resident Etienne Lajoie. The celebration, held in a warm and joyful atmosphere, brought together family, close friends and invited guests who cheered as Mr Lajoie cut his birthday cake.
Born in 1925 in Grand Anse, Mr Lajoie was raised by his grandmother alongside two of his siblings after being orphaned as a young child. He has been married twice and is the father of three children from his first marriage. The centenarian is well known in his community and is still considered active by those who know him, including his daughter Julita Louis, who is still alive and living in the district.
The district administrator, Tahiri, presented a special card on behalf of President Wavel Ramkalawan, the Government and the Local Affairs Department of Belombre, while district member Kevin Perine presented a cake and a food basket on behalf of SADECO. Mr Lajoie’s family thanked all those who attended and those who sent messages of goodwill, noting that the celebration was a meaningful tribute to a man who has lived through a century of Seychelles’ history.
