VICTORIA, Seychelles The Parlement RĂ©gional des Jeunes de l’IndianocĂ©anie held its third Plenary Session in Madagascar from May 18 to 20, 2026, bringing together young representatives from across the Indian Ocean region for three days of dialogue, consultations, thematic debates, and resolution drafting.

Representing Seychelles were Camilla Cupidon, Fredo Dubel, Elgin Crea, and Fabien Jeanne. The session opened with discussions on the governance of the Commission de l’OcĂ©an Indien, where members received updates on ongoing initiatives, regional priorities, and areas of focus. These exchanges provided participants with a deeper understanding of the COI’s role in fostering cooperation and addressing shared challenges in the region.

Delegates also engaged with civil society and non-governmental organisations active in maritime, geopolitical, and democratic fields. These interactions ensured that the resolutions drafted reflected current realities and pressing issues affecting the Indian Ocean. Further discussions involved representatives from Madagascar’s Ministry of Youth and Sports and Unesco, focusing on youth priorities, regional collaboration, and the role of young people in shaping policy.

Members worked in thematic commissions to debate, draft, and finalise resolutions based on the key topics addressed. The resolutions were formally presented and adopted at Madagascar’s National Assembly, in the presence of officials from the AssemblĂ©e Parlementaire de la Commission de l’OcĂ©an Indien. Delegates also explored ways to strengthen PRJIO’s visibility, impact, and collaboration with AP-COI.

The plenary concluded with a seminar on Artificial Intelligence in Parliaments, offering insights into how AI can enhance innovation, efficiency, and informed decision-making within democratic institutions. The participation of the Seychelles delegation reflects continued investment in nurturing future leaders capable of contributing to the growth of regional cooperation.
