President Herminie Ends Praslin Tour Impressed by Service Delivery Standards

VICTORIA, Seychelles President Patrick Herminie conducted his first official visit to Praslin yesterday in his capacity as Head of State, familiarising himself with government departments, infrastructure, and service delivery across the island.

The presidential visit examined the effectiveness and accessibility of public services on Seychelles second-largest island. President Herminie tour included fifteen different government offices and service centres, providing direct assessment of operational standards and staff working conditions.

At Baie Ste Anne jetty, President Herminie received an overview of future infrastructure plans. He was accompanied by Minister for Local Government and Inner Islands Eveline Rose, Hon Churchill Gill, Member of the National Assembly for Baie Ste Anne, and principal secretary for Inner Islands Affairs Denis Antat. The President toured the Seychelles Defence Forces Coast Guard base at Baie Ste Anne, before visiting a small centre previously used by the Prevention of Drug Abuse and Rehabilitation Agency.

At Baie Ste Anne police station, the President met officers and toured the renovated former station, which will house specialised units such as the marine police, dog unit, and an armoury. He also visited the Seychelles Fisheries Authority facility, followed by the Seychelles Fire and Rescue Services Agency at Ile Eve, where he thanked officers for their bravery during the recent Fond Azore fire.

At Baie Ste Anne hospital, nurse manager Myra Ernesta provided a tour. Minister for Health Dr Marvin Fanny and Hon Alvin Grandcourt, Member of the National Assembly for Grand Anse Praslin, joined the delegation. In Grand Anse, President Herminie visited the clinic, police station, and offices within the Seychelles Pension Fund complex. He toured the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation and various other government offices.

President Herminie said he was impressed with the organisation and standard of public service delivery on Praslin, noting that offices were modern, well maintained, and operating efficiently. He highlighted the advantage of housing multiple services under one roof and suggested this model could be replicated on Mahé.
