President Herminie Honours Fond Azore Fire Emergency Responders on Praslin

VICTORIA, Seychelles — President Patrick Herminie honoured emergency responders and sponsors who helped combat the Fond Azore fire on Praslin during a certificate presentation ceremony on Saturday at Oasis Hotel.

The recognition celebrated at least 16 members of the Praslin Emergency Brigade Response Team for their contribution, dedication, and support during the operation to contain the blaze, which threatened surrounding areas and required coordinated emergency response.

Addressing attendees, President Herminie expressed appreciation to all those involved in the emergency response efforts and praised the bravery, dedication, and commitment demonstrated throughout the operation. He stated that the actions of the emergency teams reflected the resilience and unity of the Praslin community.

Minister for Local Government and Inner Islands Eveline Rose described the Fond Azore fire as a serious and demanding situation requiring swift action, courage, coordination, and commitment. She noted that the response demonstrated the strength of community spirit, solidarity, and the willingness of individuals and agencies to work together during times of crisis.

She further commended members of the District Emergency Brigades of Grand Anse Praslin and Baie Ste Anne Praslin for responding with determination and selflessness alongside partner agencies, volunteers, and concerned citizens who helped contain the blaze and minimise its impact on surrounding communities and livelihoods.

The successful containment of the fire was significant not only for nearby communities but also for the protection of one of the country’s most environmentally sensitive and nationally treasured landscapes.
