China Strengthens Seychelles Healthcare With R450,000 Medical Equipment Donation

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Ministry of Health has received a donation of medical equipment from the embassy of the People’s Republic of China valued at over R450,000, officially presented by Chinese Ambassador to Seychelles Lin Nan to Minister for Health Marvin Fanny at the Red Roof Building. The China medical donation Seychelles was facilitated by the Chinese Medical Team and includes a wide range of equipment and supplies aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery in the country.

Among the items donated are medical beds, ECG machines, digital EEG systems, UV lamps, urine analysers, and acupuncture equipment. The comprehensive package is designed to support multiple areas of healthcare delivery, from diagnostic capabilities to patient care equipment, enhancing the capacity of Seychelles’ health facilities to serve the population.

In her remarks, Ambassador Lin Nan highlighted that 2026 marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Seychelles, making the donation particularly significant as a symbol of the enduring friendship and cooperation between the two nations. China has been a consistent partner in Seychelles’ healthcare sector, providing medical teams, equipment, and training over many years.

The Chinese Medical Team has been working in Seychelles for decades, providing medical services and knowledge transfer across various specialities. This latest donation builds on that long-standing partnership, which has seen Chinese doctors serve in Seychelles hospitals and clinics, contributing to the country’s healthcare capacity.

The donation comes at a time when Seychelles continues to strengthen its healthcare infrastructure and capabilities. The equipment will be distributed to health facilities across the islands where it is most needed, supporting the Ministry of Health’s efforts to improve access to quality healthcare services for all Seychellois.

China’s R450,000 healthcare donation reinforces the strong bilateral ties between Seychelles and China as they mark 50 years of diplomatic relations.
