Seychelles Reaffirms Commitment to Continental Cooperation

Seychelles has successfully concluded its participation in the Forty-Eighth Ordinary Session of the African Union Executive Council, which took place from 11th to 12th February 2026, at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa. Ambassador Barry Faure, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora, contributed to deliberations on critical issues aimed at advancing Africa’s collective priorities.
Seychelles welcomed the outcome of the Executive Council Session and committed to continued engagement within the African Union Framework. The Executive Council took key decisions on Multilateral Cooperation, which will shape the manner in which Africa engages with its partners. These include critical issues such as Climate Change and Environmental matters, Peace and Security, as well as financial and administrative matters related to the operations of the Commission and its Organs.
The Minister was accompanied to the Executive Council by Ambassador Conrad Mederic, Seychelles’ Permanent Representative to the African Union, Mrs Johnette Stephen, Principal Counsellor, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora, Mrs Patricia Ilunga, Second Secretary at the Embassy of the Republic of Seychelles in Addis Ababa, and Ms Vanessa Seth, Desk Officer for the African Union at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora.
