Minister Barry Faure leads the Seychelles’ Delegation to the 48th Ordinary Session of the African Union Executive Council

The Seychelles’ Minister for Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Mr. Barry Faure, speaking for the first time at the 48th Ordinary Session of the African Union Executive Council highlighted the importance of having a performance-driven approach to staff retention and transition which ensures that the African Union is fit for purpose.

The Minister indicated that the success of the Skills Audit and Competence Assessment (SACA) process depends entirely on its fairness, credibility, and transparency.

On the issue of the AUC recruitment processes, Minister Faure stressed on the critical need for transparency and meritocracy: “Equal opportunities must be accorded to all Member States, irrespective of size, geographic location, or current level of representation. We must maintain vigilance of the quota system, established precisely to guarantee equitable geographical representation among Member States.”

The active participation of Seychelles in the Executive Council reaffirms the new administration’s commitment to constructive continental dialogues and its proactive role in the Union’s collective decision-making.
