President Ramkalawan to Deliver Final Presidential Address to the Nation on Friday Evening
VICTORIA, Seychelles — President Wavel Ramkalawan will deliver his final Presidential Address to the nation this evening at 8pm, the President’s Office announced on Thursday. The address will be broadcast on SBC 1 television, SBC radio and TéléSesel. Mr Ramkalawan will officially conclude his five-year term on Saturday, October 25, 2025.
The address comes two days before the inauguration of President-elect Dr Patrick Herminie, who won the presidential runoff held on October 9, 10 and 11, defeating the incumbent. It will be an opportunity for the outgoing Head of State to address the nation on the achievements of his administration over the past five years, and to reflect on the road ahead for Seychelles.
Mr Ramkalawan and his wife, First Lady Linda Ramkalawan, hosted an emotional farewell open day at State House on Saturday afternoon, during which hundreds of supporters queued to take a souvenir photograph with the outgoing President and First Lady. The open day was widely praised as a unique gesture in the country’s political history.
The Presidential Address tonight will be the last opportunity for the Head of State to address the nation on his own behalf, before power is handed over to the incoming President on Sunday at the Stad Linite, Roche Caïman.
