Minister Rangasamy Inspects Les Mamelles Housing Project and Maison Royale in Anse Royale

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Minister for Lands and Housing, Billy Rangasamy, on Wednesday visited two ongoing projects in the south of Mahé — the ‘Dan Tol’ housing redevelopment in Les Mamelles and the newly renovated ‘Maison Royale’ building in Anse Royale, which is set to host a number of decentralised government services.

At Les Mamelles, 66 residents are currently on the housing list with the Ministry of Lands and Housing. The minister said that some of these residents had already been relocated to temporary residential areas and would have priority to return once the new homes are ready. ‘Contracts are almost finalised, and we expect excavation work for the foundations to begin very soon,’ Minister Rangasamy said.

From Dan Tol, the minister and his delegation proceeded to the former ‘CBS Building’ in Anse Royale, which is being renovated and renamed ‘Maison Royale’ to serve as a one-stop centre for several government services. The building will house the Magistrates’ Court, the Office of the Attorney General, the Seychelles National Youth Council (SNYC), as well as a temporary office for the local government and community affairs services until the renovation of the Anse Royale community centre is completed in February 2026. Other government agencies set to move into the building include the Seychelles Licensing Authority and the Seychelles Revenue Commission.

According to Minister Rangasamy, the renovation of Maison Royale is part of the government’s decentralisation plan aimed at reducing congestion in Victoria. The project, which is expected to be completed within two weeks, is costing the government R1.5 million. The minister said the aim is to bring essential public services closer to the community, so that residents in the south of Mahé no longer need to travel to town for routine activities. The Property Management Corporation (PMC) will take over the management of the building.
