Voting Begins at Special Polling Stations for Presidential Runoff

VICTORIA, Seychelles — Seychellois voters went to the polls on Thursday, October 9, 2025, for the second round of the presidential election, with voting at special polling stations conducted on Mahé, Praslin and the outer islands.

The first day of polling is reserved for the special stations. On Mahé, the special polling stations are located at the English River school and La Rosière crèche, both open from 7am to 7pm. The North East Point Home for the Elderly hosted voters from 7am to 3pm, while the Remand Centre at Bois de Rose also received voters from 7am to 3pm. On Praslin, the special station was set up at the Baie Ste Anne primary school, also open from 7am to 7pm.

On the outer islands, voters on Astove, Assomption, Denis, Bird and Frégate islands cast their ballots. According to the Voters’ Register, 77,045 people are eligible to vote during the three-day exercise, which will end with the main polling day on Saturday, October 11.

The Electoral Commission Seychelles has urged voters to bring their voter’s card and to verify their designated polling station in advance, while appealing to all parties, candidates and supporters to maintain a peaceful, transparent and credible process.
