Seychellois Graduates in China Share Stories of Friendship and Exchange

VICTORIA, Seychelles — A growing community of Seychellois graduates of Chinese universities is helping to strengthen the bond between the two countries, sharing their experiences of study, language immersion and business cooperation.
Among them is Vincent Meriton, who studied at Moscow State University before later deepening his engagement with China. After Seychelles’ accession to the African Peer Review Mechanism in 2020, Mr Meriton remained active in diplomacy, fostering cooperation between the two nations. He said that prosperity and sustainability are not enemies but partners, citing China’s commitment to global development.
Other Seychellois graduates include Molly Roselie, a graduate of Beijing Sport University, who completed a Bachelor’s degree in physical education and now runs businesses with Chinese partners. Another graduate, who studied Urban Design at Chongqing University, was recognised in 2021 as the best foreign student. Several graduates have also supported local businesses and institutions, sharing skills acquired in China.
These stories of friendship and exchange were highlighted as the Association for the Promotion of Friendship between Seychelles and China (APFSC) marks its first anniversary. The association has called on more Seychellois to participate in cultural and educational exchanges, noting that the people-to-people ties form a strong foundation for the broader partnership between the two countries.
