Electoral Commission Packs and Seals 182,600 Ballot Papers Ahead of Shipment to Seychelles

VICTORIA, Seychelles — Political representatives and the Electoral Commission of Seychelles yesterday witnessed the packing and preparation for shipment of ballot papers for the upcoming elections, in Dubai. A total of 182,600 ballots, comprising 91,300 for the Presidential Election and 91,300 for the National Assembly Election, are scheduled to arrive in Seychelles on Monday afternoon, ahead of elections set for September 25 to 27, 2025.

The ballots, which have a security number in each booklet, were packed and sealed on pallets. There are 89 boxes for the Presidential Election and 89 boxes for the National Assembly Election, totalling five pallets to be shipped: four containing ballot lots and one containing documents and posters for the ECS to be used during election time. The pallets will be kept in a safe place and after a cooling period they will leave Dubai on Monday, September 8, 2025.

In a major milestone, ballot papers were also printed in Braille. There are 114 folders for the Presidential Election and 390 folders for the National Assembly Election, allowing visually impaired voters who use Braille to cast their ballots independently. The entire process was overseen by Chief Electoral Officer Manuella Amesbury and a delegation from the ECS, who are currently in Dubai to ensure the printing is conducted in a transparent and credible manner.

Political representatives present to witness the process included Wilson Joseph (United Seychelles), Vivian Payette (LDS), Noel James-Marie De Lafontaine (LNS), Estaniella Sharon Radegonde (SPNM), Ckelly Gaizka Ravaovison (SUM), Kevin Marengo (Mouvman Lavwa Seselwa), Patrick Deiss (Laliberte), France Sophola (representing independent Charles de Clarisse), and Flory Larue, Keneth Pierre, Yvon Esther and Libranette Amabelle Palmyre (representing themselves and independent Cerlden Padayachy).
