Pillay R. Group Hosts Soft Opening of Mall of Victoria at Roche Caïman

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Pillay R. Group yesterday conducted the soft opening of its new building, the Mall of Victoria, located at Roche Caïman. The new mall spans over 8,000 square metres of prime land adjacent to the Victoria South Petrol Station and directly opposite the SIBA compound. The opening ceremony was attended by President Wavel Ramkalawan, several ministers, members of the diplomatic corps, business leaders and community guests.

Dr Ramakrishnan (Ramu) Pillay, chairman of the Pillay R. Group, welcomed the guests and said it was a true honour to welcome them to the place he believes will become the heart of the community. ‘This journey began with a simple vision: to build a landmark in Seychelles that offers every Seychellois a world-class shopping experience, bringing international brands right to our home ground. Today is a celebration of a vision realised.’ The Mall of Victoria spans four levels and includes ample parking, with additional designated spaces nearby. More than just a retail destination, the mall sets a new benchmark in design, technology and aesthetics, offering breathtaking views of both the mountains and the sea.

President Ramkalawan thanked the Pillay R. Group for investing in Seychelles. ‘I want to congratulate Dr Ramu Pillay and the entire group for having the confidence to invest in our economy. Around Victoria, we see new buildings rising, others being demolished and rebuilt. There is much movement, which is in itself a sign that our economy is doing well, and more importantly, that investors have growing confidence in our small island nation.’ Minister for Lands and Housing, Billy Rangasamy, also congratulated Dr Pillay, noting that the mall will be a new hub for shopping, entertainment and networking. Local brands such as Seybrew will be featured, while international venues including Walkers Lounge and the Hard Rock Cafe add to the mall’s vibrant atmosphere, alongside an ice cream parlour, gym, spas, fashion outlets and offices for financial institutions on the upper floors.
