Cap Business Océan Indien Names Three Winners of 2025 Call for Projects
VICTORIA, Seychelles — Cap Business Océan Indien, with the support of the French Development Agency (AFD), has unveiled the three first winners of its 2025 Call for Projects (Appel à Projets 2025). The initiative supports economic development in the region, with an emphasis on justice, sustainability and resilience, and aims to reduce environmental impact while supporting the ecological transition towards a more virtuous model.
The call for projects, launched in December 2024, received 108 applications: 91 from Mauritius, 14 from regional projects, and 1 from Seychelles. Salimah Jaulim, partnerships and resource mobilisation officer at Cap Business Océan Indien, said the objective of the initiative is to ‘support actors of change and the ecological transition, towards a more virtuous model’. She added that the call for projects falls within the framework of the Indian Ocean Commission’s regional roadmap and the commitments made at the regional level.
The three winning projects are: United Basalt Products Ltd (Mauritius), which received a grant of 84,980 euros for the valorisation of construction waste and improving energy efficiency of its plant, with actions including the installation of sustainable equipment, the recovery of waste and reforestation initiatives; a second project, with 84,260 euros, focused on improving the energy efficiency of its plant and reducing CO2 emissions; and AMS SARLU (Comoros), awarded 84,260 euros for a project aimed at transforming bananas into ecological packaging, including the installation of sustainable equipment and the development of ecological packaging. The total available fund for the projects is 630,000 euros, with grants ranging from 60,000 to 85,000 euros per individual project and up to 200,000 euros for regional projects. All selected projects will start in 2025 for a maximum duration of one year, with a final end date fixed at September 15, 2026.
