Seychellois Para-Athletes Collect Bronze Medals at CJSOI Games

VICTORIA, Seychelles — Seychellois para-athletes added to the national medal tally at the 13th edition of the Commission de la Jeunesse et des Sports de l’Océan Indien (CJSOI) Games, with several bronze medals earned in track and field events in the T20 category. The performances capped a strong showing for the home delegation at the regional para-athletics competition.

Sharif Brutus and Daniel Moustache were among the Seychellois athletes who took to the podium, each receiving a bronze medal for their respective events. Their results contributed to an encouraging para-sport campaign for Seychelles at the games and were praised by the Seychelles Paralympic Committee as evidence of the growing depth of local talent in disability sport.

Their medals came on the back of earlier golds and silvers won by the local team across athletics, swimming, judo and other disciplines, underlining the broad base of the country’s youth sport programme. Officials said the experience of competing in front of a home crowd would serve as motivation for the athletes as they prepare for upcoming regional and international meets.
